NGBC TRAINING

NGBC SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING

This week we will start our training programs.  The NGBC training journal is now available online to download and print.  These will be used to track your players training hours outside of practices with our internal training staff or an approved training partners. Instructions for filling out the training form are available on the download as well. Make sure your players track these hours to earn rewards and prizes as they progress in their Miller career.  These opportunities are completely optional but we highly encourage our players to make use of the resource when not at IGHL games. Stay tuned as we post training level rewards on the website.  Supplemental training is open to our 7th and 8th graders even after the fall season is complete.

Miller Training Days (MTDs) & Miller Homecourt Shooting Workouts and Analysis
Noblesville East Middle School
Sundays (Starts Sunday, November 3rd)

For this Sunday (November 3rd) we will have just 1 session of training from 6pm to 7pm. 

Going forward times will be as follows:
- Session 1 (Beginner to Intermediate)  5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Session 2 (Intermediate to Advanced)  6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
All dates will be loaded in team snap

Overview:
This program will focus on basketball skills development including Shooting, Ball Handling, Passing, Footwork & Agility.  This program will be led by Miller Assistant Basketball Coach Haley Peckinpaugh (Cook).  During MTDs we will also have a HOMECOURT shooting work out setup and have a sign in sheet on site to use it before or after their MTD Workout.  Girls will check in with the trainer and sign in for an open time.  Shooting workouts will be in 10-15 minute time slots.  Data from the session will be uploaded to our database and a link sent to keep track of your players progress.    Upon request a player will also get a shot analysis performed where we review your video and provide pointers and exercises on how to improve your mechanics.  Come on your IGHL off weekends or after your games.  To learn more about Coach Haley check out her bio on our trainer page.  


NGBC Girls Basketball Strength and Conditioning Program    
Noblesville West Middle School
Fridays (Starts Friday November 1st)
7:30 to 8:30 pm 
Dates will be loaded in team snap

Overview:
To increase the overall fitness levels of the athletes involved in the Noblesville Girls Basketball Program.  Athletes will participate in a strength and condition class each Friday designed to increase coordination, agility, strength, and overall mobility as it relates to the sport of basketball.  The focus will be on increasing Speed, Explosiveness, Strength, Vertical Jump and overall Endurance Levels.  The program will be run by NGBC Trainer and Coach, Katie Johnson.  Program dates will be added in team snap.  To learn more about Coach Johnson check out her bio on our trainer page.

Personal Training
Looking for One on One personal training?  Cindy Martin,  8th Grade Basketball coach at NEMS offers personal training at her in home basketball court.  Cindy works with clientele all across Hamilton county and will tailor workouts to your child’s specific needs and goals.  Her prices are extremely reasonable and are often less than 50% of you will find outside trainers charge.  She is a trainer partner with NGBC so sessions with her will count towards your training hours.  She can be contacted via email at [email protected].

Group Training, Little Ballers and Travel Basketball Beyond NGBC
Looking for group training, options for your preschool – 3rd grader or a spring summer travel basketball team?  NGBC partners with Indiana Girls Basketball (IGB).  The IGB is an organization that started with parents locally right here in Noblesville and grew into an organization offering high level training, a growing little ballers program, and post school season basketball opportunities.  To find out more information including upcoming program dates go to their website at: https://www.indianagirlsbasketball.org/

1.) Download and your Print journal pages then take them with you to any NGBC or Approved Partner training session. 
2.) When your session is complete have the trainer sign the log
3.) Scan or take a picture of your completed journals and submit them to the club via email. 

Milestones will be posted on this page along with rewards.

HALEY PECKINPAUGH

Haley Peckinpaugh (Cook) graduated in 2014 from Hamilton Heights HS where she was a 1,000 point scorer and went to the state finals as a Junior. She was All-County MVP and 3x All-State, 3x First-Team All Conference and held the school record for most 3 pointers made in a season.

For college she went to division II to Kentucky Wesleyan as a freshman where she was named to the All-freshman team but transferred after her freshman year to Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, IN to be closer to home.  At Indiana Tech she was a 3x All American, 2x Academic all American, 3x First team All-Conference, 3x NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete, Newcomer of the Year and Player of the Year in the conference. She made it to nationals 2 out of the 3 years she was there and made it as far as the sweet 16.  Her Senior year Haley also received the female athlete of the year award.  Haley finished her collegiate career as an 1,800 point scorer in 3 years and is currently 3rd all-time in scoring at Indiana Tech.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business-management and an associate’s degree in accounting from Indiana tech with a 4.0 GPA.  After graduation she moved to West Virginia to be a Division III assistant coach at Bethany College and an Admission's Counselor. In February of 2019 she moved back home to Indianan with her fiancé, John Peckinpaugh, to be closer to their families.  Haley is the Assistant Strength Coach at NHS and Assistant Varsity Coach for the Girls Basketball Program.

Haley will be running the Miller Training Days Program for the NGBC.






KATIE JOHNSON
NGBC ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT TRAINER

Katie Johnson attended Butler University, where she received a softball scholarship. While there she double majored earning a degree in education and exercise science. She also received a minor in health. Her first year out of college was spent working in the youth development department at NIFS- The National Institute for Fitness and Sport. She did many awesome things while there, including creating strength programs for patients at Riley hospital, sport related field trips for all age levels and develop PE curriculums. She truly enjoyed working with the PE curriculums and the next year went to work for the school systems. She has been a PE and Health teacher for the last 16 years and taught/ coached every grade level from Kindergarten-12th grade.  During the past 16 years she’s also gotten married and created a wonderful family with 4 beautiful children. Their ages range from 11 down to 3. Being active together is a way of life for them. Exercise and Fitness are a true passion of hers. Katie is also an NGBC coach for the class of 2026.
